BEHIND THE LENS
I’m Calvin, and two of my biggest passions are: video production & helping people.
Growing up in Sacramento, CA I witnessed my single mother work tirelessly in the social services industry. Early on, that instilled a need in me for helping others. I’ve always gravitated towards creative media, whether it was photography, videography, graphic design or editing. I never stop trying to learn more techniques and skills.
I ventured into this career path not only due to my love of the craft itself but also the joy I get when a client is happy with the work I provide and excited to utilize their new content. That’s one of the best feelings in the world!
01 - WHAT INSPIRES ME
I love watching movies and TV shows of all genres. Looking at shots and figuring out how to recreate them. I also enjoy putting on a pair of headphones, lying back on the couch with my eyes closed and listening to some music. Allowing my imagination to create scenes based off what I’m feeling from the music. I’ve also played in multiple local bands and hope to create new music and play live again soon!
02 - BEING A DOG DAD
My two dogs are definitely my children. My black lab Ace is like my little shadow, he always has to be within eyesight, and to be honest I miss the heck out of him when I’m away. Lupin, who is a Belgian Malinois / Alaskan Malamute mix is quite the character. She is a very vocal and stubborn girl but her antics have brought me some of the biggest laughs. Not only are they both loving members of our family, they are also my favorite co-workers.
03 - WHAT I LIKE TO DO FOR FUN
When I’m not working I enjoy going on hikes with my family and dogs. We also love camping and exploring the natural wonders around us. My wife Kai and I are also big Disney fans so you can usually count on us to visit a Disney or Universal Studios a couple times a year.
04 - A MOMENT I’M GRATEFUL FOR
I had the opportunity to work for an amazing production company in Miami. I learned so much from talented people in the industry and made lifelong connections. That experience gave me the confidence to pursue my passion on my own terms, and for that reason and many others I will be forever grateful.
05 - CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’
I’ve lived my whole life in California and I never truly appreciated all of the beauty and benefits that come with living in this state. It wasn’t until I moved to Florida for a couple years that I realized how much I took for granted the mountains on the horizon, the colorful changes of season, the ability to drive an hour in either direction and either hit snow or the beach. I am so thankful to be back in my home state and even more thankful to be back surrounded by friends and family.
